Busy Days

Soooooo it was a very productive day! I got Sundance's bridal path trimmed (that was long over due!). Of course I couldn't see very well since he likes to hold his head up so high and I don't have a step stool (he probably wouldn't let me use it anyway!) so it probably looks awful and uneven! But it is nice having it done and makes it easier to halter him. At least I wont be pulling his hair!!!


Then we got all five horses loaded on the horse trailer! Yey, go us!!! We have to work on the trailer loading since the hauling company will be here in two weeks and it has been a while since the horses have been on a trailer. The hauling company only gives you so much time to load them and if any refuse to load they will leave them behind. We want to see how they will do so we got Pebbles first and she loaded within 5-10 mins. Then we loaded Sweetie. She loaded in 1 min. She walked right in like a trooper! These two have not been in a trailer since August 1998!!! Pretty good for not loading in 10 years, eh?! Next we loaded Tabasco and he followed me into the trailer like a pro! I didn't even have to bribe him!!! lol We stood in there a couple of minutes and I gave him some hay and he just looked around and ate. Good enough for me time to get off of the trailer. I try to get him to back up and nothing. That horse would not budge! I push on his chest. Nothing! Hmmm I wonder how long the haulers give you to unload a horse? Finally he gets off of the trailer and we get Shoni. We worked with Shoni for almost an hour before she would load. She would get her front feet on the trailer and inch up then back out again. I finally got her to load by using cookies as the reward every time she took a step. Last but not least was Sundance. He was pretty jumpy but loaded like a pro as well. Only mild hesitation then in he went. Whew! I'm glad that part is over! Now we have a couple of weeks to work with Shoni a little more and get her familiar with the trailer.

Lastly, today we took down some of the panel fencing to move it to MN and get that area set up for the horses. It will be a temporary set up for them. When the ground thaws we will be putting up a permanent fence. Hahaha we're going to be pretty busy for a while. Tabasco and Shoni were running around like crazy horses when we started moving the panels. They were bummed that some of their pen was taken down. No worries tho since it is only temporary! If only you could explain that to them tho, right?

We have less than three weeks before they are being hauled to MN. It's nerve wracking!!!!! I have to start working on trailer loading soooooo if anyone has any pointers on trailer loading leave me your suggestions please?! : ) I think I can get it but I always like advice and pointers!

Know any good artists?

Is there anyone out there who knows of any good artists? I would love to have a painting, drawing, picture edited... something done with Spider on it!!! My problem is that I keep changing my mind on what I want done or what type of picture I want to use. Or the artist wants a lot of money... then if I pay the money, what if I don't like the picture?

I wish that I could do something like that myself but any time I try and draw something it looks like a cartoon lol. That is definitely NOT what I want :) Hmmm maybe I should try painting something... but that could be dangerous and messy and would probably end up looking like a blob of color! :)

Anyway so I have been an ebay bum the last couple of days and found all of these really great paintings/art work that I have been oogling. I'm not sure what the artist(s) names are. I love the realistic looking horses that look more like photographs then paintings. The detail is amazing!

I think that the very first picture and the white horse in the picture above look a LOT like Spider. Something about the shape of the head and the expressions or something....

Has anyone ever done any kind of tribute or anything special to remember a horse that passed on? Or something that you plan to do if the time comes? Maybe I can get a couple of other ideas to look into. :D

Wow!!!

Wow!!! I found this picture for sale on e-bay and fell in love with the colors and how much this horse looks like Spider. I am thinking about buying it but the seller does not have very good feedback... but I really like this picture! AHHHH! What to do...

Anyway, I have been a major blogger slacker lately (sorry!!!!). I have good excueses tho! Tabasco and Shoshoni both caught ringworm from Sundance (and who knows where Sundance caught it from? Maybe the neighbors new horses?). I should have known it was contagious... not that it would have done me any good since Sundance is an escape artist. Hmmmm..... So at this very moment I am medicating three horses (so Sundance doesn't get it back) and on top of all that I have to start practicing trailer loading with all five of the horses. We are in the process of relocating to MN from CO and have decided to hire a professional highly recommended horse hauling company to move the horses. I hope we get a patient hauler since they will leave horses behind if they take too long to load! Now that is nerve racking! Hahaha Never a dull moment for us at this point and time. : )

I have some new pictures that I need to post but I am thinking about buying a photo editor program for my computer (cs2 or cs3) first to see what else I can do with them! Sooooo if any one has any experience with either program (good or bad) leave me a comment and tell me about it! Or if you have an awesome photo editor program that you use and love I would like to hear about that as well! I would love and can use the feed back!
